Job Description

Are you a dedicated Primary Special Development Teacher committed to nurturing the growth and development of students with diverse needs? Tradewind is excited to announce a partnership with a school in Sunshine, presenting a fantastic opportunity for a Primary Special Development Teacher to join the primary section of the school. This full-time, role offers flexibility with a start date this term, allowing you to seamlessly integrate into the team ranging from lower to upper primary. Join a wonderful school environment that prioritizes the individualized support and development of every student.

Key duties:

  • Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans for students with special needs, in collaboration with other educators, parents, and specialists.
  • Providing differentiated instruction and support to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities, including those with learning difficulties, developmental delays, and behavioural challenges.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments to monitor students' progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals (such as psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists) to ensure coordinated support for students with special needs.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in special education practices, evidence-based interventions, and relevant legislation and policies.
  • Managing caseloads of students with special needs, including maintaining accurate records, tracking progress, and participating in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Must have a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Previous experience in a Special Development schools advantageous
  • Ongoing opportunity for those with Special Development qualifications
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).

  • Small class sizes of under 10 students with each class allocated two Education Support staff
