About the Role

As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering differentiated, student-centred learning programs tailored to individual needs. You will work closely with education support staff and allied health professionals to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support students' academic, social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated learning programs aligned with the Victorian Curriculum (Levels A-D or Foundation)
  • Develop, implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Create a safe, structured and supportive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with education support staff, allied health professionals and families
  • Monitor, assess and document student progress using appropriate assessment tools
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and professional learning

About You

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, with Special Education or Inclusive Education highly regarded
  • Current or pending Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
  • Experience teaching students with additional needs, including intellectual disability, autism and complex learning needs
  • Strong skills in differentiation, positive behaviour support and trauma-informed practice
  • A compassionate, patient and flexible approach to teaching and learning
  • Commitment to inclusive education and child safety
