About the Role:
Attention to all passionate Secondary Art teacher! Tradewind is thrilled to collaborate with an F-9 school located in Caroline Springs, Melbourne's West, to fill a teaching position for year 7-9 Visual Art with some possible Visual Communication Design classes starting in Term 3 in a full-time, ongoing position.

Key duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Visual Art/Visual Communication Design curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines under the Victorian Curriculum, covering various artistic techniques, mediums, and concepts.
  • Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating hands-on art projects, demonstrations, and discussions to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of visual art/VCD.
  • Manage art studio facilities and materials, ensuring a safe and organized environment for artistic exploration and experimentation.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences to help students develop their skills in areas such as graphic design, typography, illustration, photography, and digital media production.
  • Integrate relevant software tools and technologies into the curriculum to enhance students' digital design and media production skills
  • Teach students proper techniques for using art supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Teach a range of art-related subjects, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, photography, and digital media, to secondary students. Provide instruction in art history, aesthetics, and critique.
  • Design and administer assessments, critiques, and portfolio reviews to evaluate students' artistic skills, creativity, and conceptual understanding.
  • Organize and curate student art exhibitions, showcases, and displays to celebrate students' artistic achievements and promote their work within the school community and beyond.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Visual Arts department and across other subject areas to create interdisciplinary projects, thematic units, and cross-curricular connections that integrate art with other academic disciplines.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have full Australia Working Rights
  • Hold VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Secondary Visual Art/VCD
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
