About the Role:

An excellent opportunity exists for an English teacher to join a welcoming Catholic school community in Keilor for a 7-week contract starting this term. Teaching English to students in Years 7-10, you will work alongside a supportive and collaborative team committed to student growth and engagement. This contract position offers the potential for ongoing opportunities within a vibrant and community-minded school environment.


Key duties:

  • Design and deliver advanced English lessons across reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing in line with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Teach text analysis, literary appreciation, essay writing, debates, and presentations.
  • Expose students to diverse literary genres and cultural contexts.
  • Develop students' grammar, syntax, and language convention skills.
  • Foster critical thinking, evaluation, and interpretation of texts.
  • Encourage creativity through writing workshops, poetry analysis, and storytelling.
  • Teach research skills for independent inquiry.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and best practices for English teaching.

Skills & Experience:

  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Current/valid VIT registration (or in the application process)
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching English in Australia
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
  • Uphold the highest quality of child protection
