Is Humanities your teaching passion? A rare opportunity to teach pure Humanities is on offer! An accredited International Baccalaureate Islamic school in Tarneit is seeking a dedicated Secondary Humanities teacher. This full-time position, starting in Term 3, offers flexibility and the chance to join an exceptional institution serving approximately 1600 students from P-12. The school welcomes both graduates and experienced teachers, emphasizing excellent student behaviour and a supportive environment. Teachers of any faith are warmly welcomed.

Key duties:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in Humanities subjects such as History, Geography, Civics, Economics, and Social Studies, under the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Providing clear and effective instruction to students, utilising various teaching methods and resources to facilitate learning and understanding of Humanities topics.
  • Utilising digital resources, interactive whiteboards, educational software, and online platforms to support instruction and assessment.
  • Developing and adapting curriculum materials, including textbooks, worksheets, and multimedia resources, to meet the needs of diverse learners and enhance student engagement.
  • Establishing and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success.
  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to address disciplinary issues and promote respectful and cooperative behaviour.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and well-being. Communicating regularly with parents regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay abreast of current educational trends and research, and meet licensure or certification requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Hold VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary Humanities advantageous
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (including upper management reference)
