About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits a passionate English teacher to join a welcoming school in Caroline Springs, Melbourne's West, starting in Term 4. This full-time, permanent role is open to teachers at any career stage, from graduates to experienced educators. You'll teach English to students in Years 7-9, working within a small, supportive faculty. The school promotes collaboration, professional growth, and inclusive practices, with a strong focus on student engagement. Key duties:
- Deliver lessons aligned with the Victorian Curriculum to develop advanced skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing.
- Teach text analysis, literature interpretation, and literary techniques, fostering critical thinking, essay writing, debates, and presentations.
- Expose students to diverse literary genres and cultural/historical contexts.
- Refine writing and communication through grammar, syntax, and language conventions.
- Encourage creativity through activities such as creative writing, poetry, and storytelling.
- Develop students' research skills for independent inquiry.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and best practices in English teaching.
Skills & Experience:
- Must hold unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Current VIT registration is essential
- Proven experience teaching English at Secondary school in Australia/NZ
- Graduates are welcome to apply and will be supported
- Ability to provide two education-based references from the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable)
