About the Role:

An exciting opportunity awaits a passionate and dedicated Religious Education teacher to join a welcoming Catholic co-educational school in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs, commencing in Term 3.

This full-time role is suitable for both graduate and experienced educators who are enthusiastic about nurturing students' understanding of faith, values, and ethical thinking. The position involves teaching Religious Education to students in Years 7-10.

Key duties:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Religious Education lessons aligned with Catholic ethos and the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Support students' spiritual growth through prayer, reflection, and exploration of Catholic teachings and traditions.
  • Prepare students for sacraments like Confirmation, First Communion, and Reconciliation through instruction and programs.
  • Teach biblical content and help students apply Jesus' teachings to modern life.
  • Discuss ethical issues from a Catholic lens, promoting moral decision-making grounded in Church values.
  • Collaborate with parents, parish, and Catholic organisations to support the RE program.
  • Provide pastoral care through counselling, mentoring, and spiritual guidance.
  • Assess students' understanding of Catholic teachings using varied assessment methods.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must hold unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration is essential
  • Proven experience teaching secondary RE in Australia
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic Ethos of the school
  • Graduates are welcome to apply and will be supported
  • Ability to provide two education-based references from the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable)
