About the Role:
Tradewind is thrilled to partner with a vibrant F-9 school in Point Cook, in Melbourne's West, to recruit a dedicated Secondary Science Teacher for a part-time (0.8), ongoing position commencing in Term 3, 2025.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for a passionate educator who enjoys making science meaningful and engaging for students in Years 7 to 9. The school offers well-equipped science facilities, supportive leadership, and a collaborative teaching environment that encourages innovation and inquiry.

Key duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive science curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines, covering various disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and environmental science under the Victorian Curriculum.
- Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and inquiry-based activities.
- Manage laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized environment for conducting experiments and investigations. Teach students proper laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and ethical practices in scientific research.
- Design and administer assessments, tests, and experiments to evaluate students' understanding and mastery of scientific concepts and skills
- Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in science education, teaching methodologies, curriculum developments, and technology integration. Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences relevant to science teaching.
Skills & Experience:
- Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Must have VIT registration or are in the process of obtaining this
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Secondary Science in Australia/NZ/Placement experience essential
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
