Job Description

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated Secondary Science teacher to join a small and welcoming Catholic school community in Melbourne's West. Beginning at the end of Term 3 and continuing into Term 4, this full-time role involves teaching Science to students in Years 7-10, with the possibility of extending into 2026. The school offers a supportive and inclusive environment, where teachers are valued for their contributions and encouraged to thrive. Key duties:

  • Deliver a comprehensive Science curriculum (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth & Environmental Science) aligned with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Plan engaging, differentiated lessons with hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Manage laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring safety, organisation, and correct scientific practices.
  • Teach laboratory skills, safety protocols, and ethical research methods.
  • Design and assess student learning through tests, experiments, and other assessment tools.
  • Maintain professional growth through ongoing development, workshops, and integration of current best practices and technologies.

Skills & Experience:

  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Secondary Science advantageous
  • Graduates welcome to apply
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
  • Uphold the highest quality of child protection
  • Catholic school experience highly regarded
