About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits a passionate Junior Secondary RE and Visual Art Teacher at an excellent Catholic school in Melton, starting from Term 3. This full-time, ongoing position involves teaching students in grades 7-10 at the Melton campus. Key duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Visual Art/Religious Studies curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines under the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Fostering the spiritual growth and development of students by providing opportunities for prayer, reflection, and exploration of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions.
  • Manage art studio facilities and materials, ensuring a safe and organized environment for artistic exploration and experimentation.
  • Teaching students about the Bible, including the Old and New Testaments, and guiding them in understanding the teachings of Jesus Christ and their relevance to contemporary life.
  • Teach a range of art-related subjects, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, photography, and digital media, to secondary students. Provide instruction in art history, aesthetics, and critique.
  • Exploring ethical and moral issues from a Catholic perspective, including topics such as social justice, human rights, and the dignity of life, and encouraging students to apply Catholic moral principles to their decision-making and actions.
  • Organize and curate student art exhibitions, showcases, and displays to celebrate students' artistic achievements and promote their work within the school community and beyond.

Skills & Experience:

  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Visual Art and RE
  • Previous experience teaching within the Catholic System advantageous
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
