Located in Melbourne's dynamic western suburbs, this welcoming and forward-thinking F-9 school in Tarneit is seeking a passionate and creative Secondary Woodwork/Visual Arts Teacher for a full-time role commencing mid-August.

Key duties:

Visual Arts:

  • Plan and deliver a comprehensive Visual Arts program for secondary students, aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, covering a range of mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and digital media.
  • Create engaging, hands-on lessons tailored to diverse learning styles, incorporating art history, aesthetics, and critique to deepen artistic understanding.
  • Manage and maintain a safe, well-organized art studio, teaching proper use of tools and materials while fostering creativity and experimentation.
  • Assess student work through projects, portfolios, and critiques, and contribute to school life by curating exhibitions and collaborating on cross-curricular initiatives.

Woodwork:

  • Develop and deliver a woodwork curriculum aligned with educational standards, focusing on hands-on learning and skill progression.
  • Plan and teach lessons covering woodworking techniques, tool use, machinery safety, and project completion.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and well-managed workshop environment that supports student learning and behaviour.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to keep current with teaching practices, industry trends, and safety requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Current VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Primary in Australia
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
