About the Opportunity

Tradewind Australia is supporting an Aboriginal-led family services program to recruit an experienced Senior Intensive Family Services (IFS) Practitioner for a 3-month locum contract.

This role has been created to provide additional senior support to the team during a period of parental leave and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

About the Role

As a Senior IFS Practitioner, you will work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families experiencing crisis, family violence, and/or involvement with Child Protection.

The role focuses on:

  • Keeping children safe

  • Strengthening family relationships

  • Supporting parents to create stable, nurturing home environments

You will provide intensive, relationship-based support, working collaboratively with families and external services to promote long-term safety and wellbeing.

Key Focus Areas

  • Provide intensive, strengths-based family support

  • Maintain accurate case notes and documentation

About You

You are an experienced family services practitioner with the confidence to step into a senior locum role.

You will bring:

  • Relevant qualifications in Social Work, Community Services or a related field

  • Experience working in Intensive Family Services, Child Protection or similar programs

  • Strong understanding of family violence, child safety and risk assessment

  • Ability to engage families with empathy, professionalism and cultural sensitivity

  • Strong communication and organisational skills
