Job Description
We are seeking Senior Practitioners to work in a Specialist Pregnancy and Early Parenting program. You will support with parenting interventions, providing wrap around care and education to families adjusting to parenthood. Located in Melbourne's Western Suburbs, the role will also support with leadership and secondary consultation responsibilities for the team.
You Will:
Independently deliver support services to families including assessment, counselling, group work, single session & short-term casework, in-home case management and case work, referral and advocacy, with a strong focus and skill base in increasing parenting capacity and family functioning, using evidence-informed programs.
Work collaboratively delivering interventions that increase parenting capacity, family functioning, achieve child safety and enhance conditions for child development. This will include a comprehensive, outcomes focus for parents, carers and children including individual, social, and economic outcomes.
Work with families, providing supportive and informative strategies in order to promote positive parenting and good family functioning with families with young children 0-5 years of age.
Engage and support parents who are reluctant to initiate or sustain behaviour change.
Work in partnership with families to achieve agreed goals.
Work with parents through practical support to connect with the local community and community services as appropriate.
Provide home visits to families that require parenting support.
Provide parent education programs either in group settings or on an individual basis.
You must have:
Degree in Social Work or other tertiary qualification with counselling competencies and have substantial experience delivering parent education programs including training in at least two current parent education program approaches (i.e., SafeCare, Triple P, Bringing Up Great Kids, Promoting First Relationships - PFR).
Have experience in working with families in the welfare/community sector, home based family services and in the early parenting period.
Have good written and oral communications skills, and to be confident to liaise both internally and externally with staff and stakeholders.
Experience in delivering parenting education programs.
Are able to manage quality improvement functions, including understanding of good process and accountability.
