Job Description

Specialist Family Violence Solicitor - Multiple Opportunities
Pay: $91-$109K + super (salary packaging available under the EA)
Location: Mildura (Relocation required if not already local)
Employment Type: Full-time or 0.8 FTE (35 hours per week), 9am-5pm

Tradewind Australia is currently recruiting two Specialist Family Violence Solicitors for a respected community legal service based in Mildura. These roles sit within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering free legal support to vulnerable individuals experiencing family violence across the Mallee region.

While both roles focus on supporting victim-survivors of family violence, each offers a slightly different service delivery model. This provides an opportunity for solicitors who are passionate about family violence law to choose a pathway that best aligns with their experience and interests.

About the Roles

Both positions sit within a community legal centre providing legal advice, advocacy, casework and court representation to vulnerable community members.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal advice, casework and representation in family violence and related matters
  • Supporting victim-survivors through intervention orders, family law and associated legal processes
  • Working collaboratively with social workers, support services and partner organisations
  • Delivering community legal education and legal information
  • Contributing to a trauma-informed and client-centred service model

Key Differences Between the Roles

Although both roles sit within the same legal team, they differ in how services are delivered.

Role 1 - Integrated Family Violence Service (Health Justice Partnership)

This position operates within a highly integrated service model, working alongside family violence and wellbeing practitioners.

  • Embedded within a multidisciplinary family violence program
  • Close collaboration with support workers and therapeutic services
  • Focus on holistic client outcomes
  • Opportunity to work in a Health Justice Partnership environment
  • Strong emphasis on integrated case coordination

Role 2 - Community Legal Centre Outreach Role

This position focuses more broadly on delivering legal services across the region.

  • Providing legal advice, casework and court representation
  • Outreach support to family violence and community service locations
  • Supporting services such as family violence intake and referral programs
  • Delivering legal education and community engagement
  • Involvement in policy, advocacy and law reform initiatives

About You

To be successful in either role, you will bring:

  • Minimum 2 years' post-admission experience (role not suitable for new graduates)
  • Experience in family violence or family law, grounded in a trauma-informed approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an integrated, multidisciplinary service
  • Strong communication skills and confidence managing sensitive client matters
  • Ability to work with vulnerable and disadvantaged clients
  • Commitment to social justice and trauma-informed practice

Benefits

  • Salary circa $91,913 - $109,249 + Super
  • Salary packaging up to $15,834 available
  • Work within a highly respected community legal service
  • Strong multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in regional communities
