About the Role:
Are you a passionate VCE English teacher looking for a chance? Tradewind are proud to work with an excellent Islamic International Baccalaureate accredited school, offering a wonderful opportunity to work with senior students as part of the VCE or IB Stream. A flexible start this year or in the new year in a full time role with ongoing opportunities.

Key duties:

  • Designing and delivering lessons that align with the VCE English curriculum including teaching key concepts, texts, and skills prescribed for Units 1-4.
  • Selecting appropriate texts, including novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction, for study based on VCAA guidelines.
  • Teaching students how to critically analyse these texts, including exploring themes, characters, literary techniques, and socio-cultural contexts.
  • Teaching students how to write analytical essays, including structuring arguments, incorporating textual evidence, and developing critical interpretations. Providing guidance on essay planning, drafting, and revision.
  • Instructing students in the analysis of language use in a variety of texts, including media articles, speeches, and advertisements
  • Facilitating class discussions, debates, and oral presentations to develop students' oral communication skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Planning and implementing strategies to prepare students for VCE English examinations, including the end-of-year exam (Units 3-4).
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, including other VCE English teachers and faculty members, to share resources, strategies, and best practices for teaching VCE English effectively.

Skills & Experience:

  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration
  • Tertiary Qualification (minimum 4-year degree)
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching VCE English in Australia
  • Supportive of school ethos and faith
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
