About the Role:
Catholic senior school in Melbourne's West, is seeking a committed VCE Legal Studies teacher to join their team. This full-time, ongoing position offers a flexible start date- either Term 4, 2025 or the beginning of the 2026 school year.

In this role, you will teach VCE Legal Studies to senior students, guiding them to develop strong analytical and evaluative skills, a sound understanding of the Australian legal system, and the confidence to apply their learning to real-world contexts. You will play a central role in supporting students as they prepare for VCE success and their future education or career pathways.

Key duties:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons in VCE Legal Studies within the Victorian curriculum framework, covering topics such as criminal law, civil law, and legal studies in global contexts.
  • Designing and administering assessments to measure students' understanding of legal concepts and their ability to apply legal reasoning and analysis.
  • Facilitating inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage students to explore legal issues, analyse real-world scenarios, and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Integrating current legal events and developments into the curriculum to keep content relevant and engaging for students.
  • Assisting students in preparing for VCE Legal Studies exams, including providing study guides, practice exams, and exam strategies to help students succeed in their assessments.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Legal Studies department and across other subject areas to share best practices, develop interdisciplinary projects, and support students' holistic development

Skills & Experience:

  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching VCE Legal Studies in Australia/NZ
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
