About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity is open for a committed Wood Technology teacher to become part of a community-oriented Catholic school in Altona North in 2024. This remarkable school, catering to approximately 2000 students in years 7-12 across two campuses, features contemporary facilities and excellent staff amenities. The school is welcoming to both graduates and experienced teachers, upholds high standards of student behaviour, provides learning coaching, and is well-equipped with ample resources.
Key duties:
- Design and develop a comprehensive woodwork curriculum aligned with educational standards and objectives.
- Plan engaging and effective lessons that cater to students' skill levels and promote hands-on learning in the woodwork shop.
- Provide clear and thorough instruction on woodworking techniques, tools, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrate proper and safe use of woodworking tools and machinery.
- Facilitate the development of woodworking skills, including measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing projects.
- Establish and maintain a positive and orderly learning environment, managing student behaviour
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on industry trends, teaching methodologies, and safety standards.
Skills & Experience:
- Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
- Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary Wood Technology, highly valuable
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
