About the Role:
Are you looking for a Woodwork position from Term 4? Join a thriving co-educational secondary school in Melton, starting in Term 4, 2024, and extending into 2025. You'll be teaching students in Years 7-10, with the chance to make a real impact in a school community of approximately 1,500 students from Years 7-12. Key duties:
- Design and develop a comprehensive woodwork curriculum aligned with educational standards and objectives.
- Plan engaging and effective lessons that cater to students' skill levels and promote hands-on learning in the woodwork shop.
- Provide clear and thorough instruction on woodworking techniques, tools, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrate proper and safe use of woodworking tools and machinery.
- Facilitate the development of woodworking skills, including measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing projects.
- Establish and maintain a positive and orderly learning environment, managing student behaviour
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on industry trends, teaching methodologies, and safety standards.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 4-year Bachelor degree with minimum 1 year Teaching qualification
- Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching 7-10 Woodwork
- Open to Graduate Teachers and those eligible for permission to teach
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
