Safe Places for Children leads the way in providing young people at risk, who have experienced complex and developmental trauma and exhibit challenging behaviours, with intensive trauma-informed therapeutic support. Our approach is individualised, and based on small, stable, and consistent teams that focus on connection and relationship building with the young person to stabilise their behaviours and give them a sense of hope and direction, leading to positive outcomes.
Safe Places for Children was established in 2006 as a not-for-profit (NFP) organisation providing residential care for young people in Queensland. We've cared for over 3000 young people to date.
About the Role
We are seeking a full time Learning Designer to work on-site in our Brisbane CBD office. The Learning Designer is responsible for developing learning activities that engage and support a wide range of learning needs, provide quality and governance of Learning Management System (LMS) and monitor, assess and continuously improve the online training experience at Safe Places for Children. The role ensures all learning material is of a high standard and meets regulatory compliance standards. The Learning Designer monitors the learning experience to ensure it is engaging, accessible, evidence-based and aligned to the values and strategic vision of Safe Places for Children. As a Learning Designer, your expertise will also contribute to Safe Places for Children's communication strategies, including internal communications, website enhancements and social media posts.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaboration. Work collaboratively with the Subject Matter Experts (SME), operational leaders and the broader Learning and Development team to design and develop high quality online learning content and other learning resources including Slide Decks, Facilitator Guides, Participant Workbooks and other learning resources as required.
- Learning Design. Experience in learning design including experience in the use of Articulate Storyline, Adobe Suite, SharePoint, Microsoft Suite to develop engaging learning resources.
- Governance. Provide consistent and reliable governance of LMS data to ensure training delivery is captured. Experience in Learn Upon or similar LMS system is required.
- Critical Thinking. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving to accomplish set objectives and outcomes.
- Communications. Contribute to the development of communication strategies, including, but not limited to, internal communications, website enhancements and social media posts.
About You
Our Learning Designer will bring a genuine passion to make a difference in the lives of young people and our communities, holding certain attributes and demonstrated knowledge and experience. Personable attributes will include:
- Hold a Diploma or higher-level qualification in Education, Graphic Design or relevant field.
- Hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40122 or be willing to obtain it.
- A preparedness to learn and adopt new technology, work practices, systems and procedures; underpinned by an ability to think outside the box.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering a wide range of eLearning experiences using a variety of mechanisms.
- Ability to make decisions, be flexible in responding to changing priorities, work unsupervised, accept responsibility and act on directives.
- Proven experience in managing and supporting quality and governance of an LMS.
- Experience in working in the community services or health sector.
- IT or software development experience (desirable).
- Previous experience in working within large eLearning teams (desirable).
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in Australia, hold an unrestricted driver's licence, and must be willing to undergo state specific checks (details to be provided), including eligibility to work with Children and Qualifications.
