WHS Business Partner - Out of Home Care - Cairns/Townsville

We're passionate about providing safe and nurturing environments for vulnerable children and young people. We're looking for a WHS Business Partner to help us strengthen our proactive safety culture across a national organisation, supporting frontline staff who make a difference every day.
LOCATION
- Flexible Location in either Cairns or Townsville (preferrable Townsville)
Travel requirements for the role
- If based at Townsville, travel to Cairns (approximately 2 days/fortnight, plus as needed for urgent incident response if required).
- Similar if based at Cairns, possibly 3 days/fortnight at Townsville).
- Twice per year 3-4 days in Brisbane
About the Role
As our WHS Business Partner, you'll work alongside operational teams to implement practical, proactive WHS strategies. You'll be the go-to person for safety advice, helping develop systems, tools, and training to embed a consistent and effective WHS approach. You'll also support incident investigations, risk management, and help grow the organisation's overall safety capability.

Essential requirements
- Minimum Diploma in WHS
- Experience with WHS systems, risk assessments, audits, and investigations
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and safety frameworks
- Confident communicator who can train, engage, and influence at all levels
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and WHS platforms
Desirable Qualifications and experience
- Return to Work Coordinator or Lead Auditor qualifications
- Experience with ISO45001, youth services, or the not-for-profit sector
- Knowledge of child protection legislation
Other Requirements
- Full work rights in Australia
- Valid Driver's Licence
- Willingness to undergo relevant background checks (e.g. Working with Children)
